Johan Henrik Wulf Johanneson Jondal was born in 1795 at Underhaug in Jondal, Norway and died in 1864 at Torsnes in Jondal, Norway. Henrik was the progenitor of many of the Jondall and Jondahl families in America, especially in the areas of Iowa, Minnesota and California. Jondal is a parish in the Hardanger area in Hordaland County, Norway. (The Jondahl families in North Dakota immigrated from a different Jondal in Norway and are not related to those from Hardanger.)
Henrik's family was renown for their ship-building prowess. His son Hans was my great-grandfather. Hans and his family immigrated to America from Norway in 1870.
